Typically major machine or machine systems are not purchased so often to small and medium size production sites. But when they happen usually the existing employees perform the purchase alongside their regular duties. It often means that the purchase is made under stress and outside the employees' competence area. Common mistakes in the purchase are lack of specifications and contracts with suppliers and that it has not been verified that the existing equipment will work with the new equipment.

Often, these mistakes result in delayed start of production and additional costs.
